Brightland Holiday Shoppe
Parasol Projects @ 173 Elizabeth Street · November 5 – December 27, 2021
Say hello to Brightland’s first-ever pop-up shop. In 2021, we hosted this charming, picturesque brand in one of our Nolita locations. Bright oranges, yellows, rich dark browns, and crisp, warm autumn tones filled its interior. Its cozy, farmhouse-like atmosphere further reinforced the Thanksgiving and harvest season vibes.
If extra virgin and flavor-infused olive oils, fruity vinegar, and Californian and Hawaiian honeys are your thing, you will enjoy Brightland’s products. Each item is created using locally and responsibly-sourced ingredients, bringing fresh culinary goods from family-run farms to NYC. Everything you need to live well in a ‘golden state.’
Casa Beyt
New York Textile Month · September 19 – 24, 2017
In 2017, Casa Beyt launched its first pop up event and textile workshop for Li Edelkoort’s New York Textile Month. This exhibition featured home decor made by Middle Eastern and Central American artisans.
The name “Casa Beyt” refers to the exhibition’s cross-cultural nature: casa is the Spanish word for “home,” and ‘beyt’ is its Arabic equivalent. Together, they embody the intersection between two cultures, heritages, and ways of life within the universal concept of home. Visitors could browse Oaxacan alpaca pillows, Egyptian kilim rugs, silk-embroidered pillows from Lebanon, Guatemalan hand-painted ceramic plates, and more. Some of the embroideries were stitched by refugee women living in Lebanon, with sales proceeds returned to these craftspeople and donated to NGOs.
