Coco Shop

Parasol Projects @ 251 Elizabeth Street from May 3rd, 2022 to June 13th, 2022.

Coco Shop was founded in 1949 by siblings Pat Starr and Amos Morill on the beautiful Caribbean island of Antigua and had a humble start as a crafts table in the capital of St. John's. They are known for making high-quality cotton and linen island print clothing. Each individual piece is a clear reflection of the synergy between craftsmanship and teamwork of local artists and tailors. They believe that resort wear, typically too revealing and overly gaudy, should be simplified and refined. Their leafy and floral wardrobe essentials are a fresh take on relaxed summer style.

Surfergirl Gallery: Invincible Summer

Parasol Projects @ 2 Rivington Street from May 12th, 2021 to May 16th, 2021.

And no, we have not forgotten about your artistic needs! We had the pleasure of hosting this dynamic, vibrant Pop-Up in our 2 Rivington Street all-glass, open studio. Surfergirl is an NYC art gallery working to empower both budding and seasoned women artists alike; they featured artwork from every continent in their multimedia "Invincible Summer" exhibition.

Artists That Were Featured

Tombolo

Parasol Projects @ 2 Rivington Street from March 13th, 2019 to March 17th, 2019.

Does anyone think that Hawaiian shirts are too tacky and touristy? Well, maybe Tombolo can change your mind! This Hawaiian shirt company based in Greenpoint, Brooklyn specializes in uni-sex fashion and so-called 'escape wear.' Its mission is to rescue the Hawaiian shirt industry from its excessive marketability and unfortunate reputation. Why? They believe that the rich history of the Hawaiian shirt extends beyond simply frat fashion. Tombolo wants their shirts to be worn as the ultimate form of individuality and self-expression.

Future and Fauna / Squar'd Away

Parasol Projects @ 251 Elizabeth Street from July 31st, 2019 to August 4th, 2019.

The Future and Fauna and Squar'd Away Pop-Up is a collaboration and team effort to curate a selection of women-designed, eco-friendly, and sustainable goods and unveil them to the greater NYC public.

Future and Fauna supports women artisans and strives toward carrying ethically-sourced and low carbon footprint global goods, such as fancy totes made from recycled polymer and naturally dyed hand-woven pouches designed by Guatemalan artists. On the other hand, Squar'd Away caught us off-guard with their digitally-printed silk bandanas, a reinterpreted version of the traditional bandana. Locally manufactured in Brooklyn and in small batches, 20% of their sales profit is donated to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research. This temporary establishment was environmental consciousness and mindful consumerism at its finest.

Gal Pals Unite

Parasol Projects @ 2 Rivington Street from March 12th, 2020 to March 15th, 2020.

True to its name, Gal Pals Unite is a Pop-Up assortment of local women-owned businesses: A Couple Puns, Andie and Erin, Fancy Troubles, Freckle Faced Dirt, June and Joy, Le Mondeur, Megan Phillips Collection, and StyleNmotion. Enter through the threshold of our 2 Rivington Street storefront and you could find everything from poetic and pun-y greeting cards to captivating retro-style sunglasses. Did we mention there were also long, classy print skirts and handmade leather bags and belts on display? Let us not forget the skillfully embroidered and hand-stitched pairs of shoes from Le Mondeur.
