Chenyi Sun: NEW YORK STATION @ 251 Elizabeth
March 6 – 10, 2019  |  11 am – 8 pm
Opening Reception: March 7th  |  5 pm – 8 pm

Parasol Projects presents New York Station, a solo exhibition by artist Chenyi Sun. The exhibition explores the experience of loneliness as it relates to the modern urban
environment. Sun’s meticulously rendered subjects and environments are an examination into the phenomenon of isolation despite the increasing population in urban centers. The idea comes directly from his observations in crowds and the relationships between people and people in the high-pressure environment of a big city. The subway is emblematic of all aspects of the fast rhythm of the city. Loneliness is increased by the contrast between movement and quiescence. The subway reflects different spaces and adds crowding to the painting as a statement about the complexity of the city. The artist explores the inner world of his subjects through paintings that fuse several oil painting techniques.

The event is free and open to the public.
