Stop and Smell the Flowers @ 2 Rivington
July 22 – 23, 2022  |  11am – 6pm

When was the last time you stopped to smell flowers? Or allow yourself a moment to be present and let things just…be. We’ve become so engulfed with work and things that distract us that we deny ourselves the chance to just stop and see what life has to offer us. Perhaps you might have had the feeling that you were blazing through life and couldn’t find time for yourself. Stillness plays an integral part in the human experience. This space is meant to provide sanctuary for those who seek to be still.

Through this exhibition we are given intimate access into the world of Mr. Lovejoy. Mr. Lovejoy is a man just like you and me. He wakes up in the morning, goes to work at an unremmarkable job, and comes home at night just to repeat the cycle. Mindlessly staring at documents needing to be filed, he consistently finds his mind wandering to what could be if he had the time. Seeking to escape the constant hum of the daily grind; Mr. Lovejoy dreamt up a space specifically meant to appreciate the intimate moments life has to offer. In this room, we find ourselves at the point where reality and imagination rendezvous. From boredom sprang the fruits of curiosity, in which we find ourselves immersed in.

Life’s journey is like walking through a garden, but it’s up to you to decide if you’ll stop and smell the flowers. What could our ideas be if we planted them, tended to them, and allowed them to flourish? I can only provide the question, but it’s up to you to take the trip down the rabbit hole to see what you might find. I encourage everyone who visits to remain present. Please, stop and smell the flowers.
