“American Monarchy” presented by King David @ 2 Rivington
July 29 – August 28, 2021 | 10am – 6pm
The works on display in “American Monarchy” represent the culmination of over a year’s worth of meditations.
This is an exhibition that draws parallels into conversation: abstraction and figuration, chaos and order, accessibility and industry, beauty and ugliness, compressed into close quarters to metaphorically mirror the compression our modern world has experienced. Through abstraction and concept-building, new possibilities have been discovered for the artist’s painting practice, shedding light on other realms in which the distillation inherent in abstraction can be explored. While painting still serves as ground-zero for building potential, print and conceptual sculpture allow newer forms of kinetic actualization for King David’s artistic vision.
King David is a fine artist born and based in Brooklyn, with Caribbean roots by way of Jamaica and Trinidad & Tobago. His work is informed by his lush ancestry, the textured urban grit of NYC, and the impressionistic radiance of the South of France, where he studied painting and drawing. His work, and further info on “American Monarchy”, can be found at KingDavidArt.com.
